Took the pup for a walk this morning.   She has grown quite a bit and is thriving: she gained fourteen pounds in two weeks.   Her days at the shelter are hopefully a distant memory.  As a friend said, "A little love makes a big difference".  It was a joy so see her take so much enjoyment from a simple event; scents to sniff, buzzing dragonflies, the rustle of leaves and grass.  Great way to begin the day.  Good for the heart in more ways than one.  Walking along reminded me of this song...

 Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men  
                 who signed the Declaration of Independence?

                 Five signers were captured by the British as traitors,
                 and tortured before they died.

                 Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned.
                 Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army;
                 another had two sons captured.

                 Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or
                 hardships of the Revolutionary War.

                 They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes,
                 and their sacred honor.

                 What kind of men were they?

                 Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists.
                 Eleven were merchants,
                 nine were farmers and large plantation owners;
                 men of means, well educated,
                 but they signed the Declaration of Independence
                 knowing full well that the penalty would be death if
                 they were captured.
                 Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and
                 trader, saw his ships swept from the seas by the
                 British Navy. He sold his home and properties to
                 pay his debts, and died in rags.

                 Thomas McKeam was so hounded by the British
                 that he was forced to move his family almost constantly.
                 He served in the Congress without pay, and his family
                 was kept in hiding. His possessions were taken from him,
                 and poverty was his reward.

                 Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Dillery, Hall, Clymer,
                 Walton, Gwinnett, Heyward, Ruttledge, and Middleton.

                 At the battle of Yorktown , Thomas Nelson, Jr., noted that
                 the British General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson
                 home for his headquarters. He quietly urged General
                 George Washington to open fire. The home was destroyed,
                 and Nelson died bankrupt.

                 Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed.
                 The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months.

                 John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was dying.
                 Their 13 children fled for their lives. His fields and his gristmill
                 were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests
                 and caves, returning home to find his wife dead and his
                 children vanished.
                 So, take a few minutes while enjoying your 4th of July holiday and
                 silently thank these patriots. It's not much to ask for the price they paid.

Rick Astley had a hit song called "Never gonna give you up" in 1987.   He was blessed with a rich, wonderful voice that belies his stature and appearance.  Have danced to this song many, many times.  Lots of fun.  Enjoy this blast from the past.

Impact.  Squealing tires. Smell of burnt rubber...I walked away from the crash, no one was hurt.  Amazing.   Big thanks to the officers who assisted at the site of the accident and to the kind firefighter who walked my dazed self to a safe spot across the street.   As DH said, "Relax, it's just a piece of metal".

Here's another vintage slip with a great lace detail at the hem.  Love how the colors are soft and muted.  These slips are so versatile.  You can wear them as a slip of course.  But wait!  There's more!  With the warm weather, ladies are wearing them as a cover-up at the beach or for going out in the evening.  These slips have a wonderful silky texture; wish I had a dollar for every time people touch them at shows! 

If a full length slip is not for you, I also make them in a camisole length.  Terrific with jeans, capris or skirts. 

Sorry, this slip has been sold.  Not to worry, plenty of vintage goodness in the works!

These earrings are the result of an experiment and a series of events.  A new shipment of vintage stones arrived recently.  I had been saving the pink pearls for something special.  Wanted to combine the pearls and stones together as the colors were so pleasing together.  The challenge?  The pearls are drilled in the center rather than from end to end.   Not a tragedy, but it made me think of alternative way to work with them.  This is the result of combining those elements.  Am excited about the design as it combines a contemporary style with vintage flavor.

Vexillology is the scholarly study of flags.  Why is this important?  Today is flag day!

Ever wonder about the symbolism behind the folding of an American flag?  Just read about this and was touched to learn that each fold is rich with symbolism.  I'm sure most of us have seen the ceremonial folding of a flag.  I personally did not give much thought to the process itself, rather I observed the ceremony as a whole.  The flag is always presented to the family in a triangular shape.   There is purpose and meaning behind the finished shape and each of the 13 ceremonial folds.    TTFN, off to set out my flag.

Saints preserve us!

Here's a custom soldered pendant of St. Therese of Lisieux.  Much loved  throughout the world, she was also known as  "The Little Flower" or St. Therese of the Little Ways.   She is usually portrayed with flowers, especially roses.  Her "little ways" or small sacrifices spoke to people more profoundly than grand gestures or volumes of theological writings.  People were able to relate to her example of faith and apply it to their own lives.   St. Therese made an ordinary life extraordinary although there was nothing ordinary about her.

I love the rich symbolism of these Saints and the iconography.  Religious meaning aside, the pictures are well executed, the colors are rich and overall quite beautiful.  When you consider the images are fairly small, it makes them even more remarkable. 

My mother had a big stack of holy cards from her school.  The cards were given as gifts at the end of the year or on special occasions.  It was a special treat to be able to look through her cards.   Each card was so lovely that it was difficult to pick a favorite.   I have made a series of these charms in honor of that memory.

summer meal




Panzanella.  The word just rolls off the tongue.  For those of you who haven't tried it, it's an Italian Salad with bread and tomatoes.  I bought two baguettes from a vendor who makes artisan bread earlier in the week.  The first loaf  was served with fresh, locally made applewood smoked mozzarella, basil and olive oil.  Sublime!  The second baguette started to get a little stale, but that was intentional.  Panzanella makes use of stale bread.  I like to use farm stand tomatoes, (see earlier post), and add other vegetables like red peppers and avocados with a bit of feta cheese.  Not quite traditional, but very tasty.  The panzanella was served last night with grilled pesto salmon and watermelon slices.   The pesto salmon is so easy to make.  Place a salmon filet on a sheet of foil sprayed with cooking spray or brushed with olive oil on a preheated grill.  Next, spread pesto, (homemade or store bought), over the filet.  A lot or a little, it's up to you.  That's it.  Your cooking time will vary with the size and thickness of the fish.  A filet purchased at Target took about 18 minutes to cook.  Just keep an eye on it, nothing worse than dry overcooked fish.  On a side note, I never used to like salmon.  Despised it.  This recipe, however, made me change my mind.  Salmon is also very good for you, so it's a win, win, situation. 

 Here's a traditional panzetta recipe .  Feel free to tweak it to your personal tastes.  The food police won't show up at your door, and if they do, don't invite them in!  More for you and yours.



"Panzanella or panmolle is an Italian dish originating in the regions of Tuscany, Umbria, Marche and Lazio. The dish is a bread salad popular in the summer months. It includes sliced bread and fresh tomatoes, flavored with basil, olive oil, and vinegar, often with salt and pepper. The bread used should be day- to week-old saltless Tuscan bread made in a wood oven."

Summer offerings

Just about this time for the past few years, my local farm stand begins to sell fresh local produce.  Sometimes it's still warm from being picked earlier in the day.  Hard to say which is my favorite, but I'm quite fond of fresh tomato sandwiches or tomato and cucumber salad.  These tomatoes are heavy,dense and juicy.  Learned years ago from a grocer that the worst thing you can do is to refrigerate tomatoes.  It makes them grainy and destroys their flavor. 

So begins the season of salads, fresh fruit and grilling.  Am looking forward to the lazy days of summer spent with family and friends.  What will summer bring for you?

I actually have a day off this week.  It will be spent in the garden; mulching, weeding and planting new flowers and herbs.  Bliss!

skull cuff



Made some biker themed jewelry for a recent event.  One of my friends from childhood loves to ride and I had her in mind when I created this piece.  This cuff has been made with repurposed leather so it's nice and supple.   Wearing it is kind of like putting on your favorite jeans.

On your mark, get set, GO!



As is my usual practice, I make a list of appointments and goals each Monday.  This week promises to be quite busy.   I hope to accomplish everything on the list, but realize the week will pass whether or not I meet those goals. With that thought in mind, I will remind myself to take each day at a time.  Sounds simple, but less overwhelming than looking at the week as a whole.  The added twist  to the scheduled events?  My car is in the shop.  It overheated with lots of steam and mysterious gurgling sounds.  The temperature gauge needle was buried to the far right despite a relatively cool engine.  Hopefully it's a minor problem, easily and quickly repaired.  My mechanic is trustworthy and I know he will have me back on the road again.  I am also thankful for two good friends who stepped forward and lent assistance and comforting words.  Thanks guys!

Good news!  My photographic equipment finally showed up!  The order was inexplicably dropped by those who shall not be named.  After several days of waiting for said order, I placed it a second time.  Victory was mine as I swooped it off the front porch and did a happy dance.  Added to this week's list, (don't laugh),  is taking photos of some new pieces.  I will post them on this website and my Etsy website. 

My latest pieces include: vintage tie dyed slips, cuff bracelets and a gorgeous Victorian Tiger themed necklace.

And they called it puppy love....



In a moment of insanity/weakness/puppy love, we adopted a rescue puppy.  Her name is Lucy and she's stolen our hearts.  This has to be the sweetest, most laid back puppy that I've encountered.  My pragmatic husband is waiting for the "sedatives to wear off".  Don't be fooled.  He's just as smitten as the rest of the family, if not more.  I predict a long lasting relationship based on love and puppy kisses.   TTFN!

Teachers!



  A big Thank You to all of you who stopped by my trunk show today.  I love selling to teachers as they are some of my best customers.  They are generous, inquisitive and appreciative.  How about the impact they have on all of our lives?  There were several teachers in my life that inspired and motivated me to do my best.  Their words of  encouragement allowed me to express myself in ways that are still evident today.   I met a woman today that is celebrating 49 years as a teacher.  Remarkable!  Her secret is to focus on the positive and let the rest will take care of itself. 

  Here's to all of you for making an important contribution to the world as we know it.  My hat is off to those to bravely enter the classrooms on a daily basis even though they are outnumbered!  Most of us would run shrieking in the opposite direction.   Teachers,  you have my utmost respect and appreciation.

  Back to the studio, it's time to create.  Boxes of materials have shown up and are screaming for attention.   It's been too long and there's lots of ideas brewing in me brain...

Photos, paint and projects



  Here's wishing I had such a sweet camera.  Lately I've been experimenting photographing jewelry.  Good lighting is part of the equation so I've ordered some equipment to enhance the photos.  My goal is to feature more photos of my work. 

  While waiting for said equipment, I've been painting a variety of booth props with a soothing shade of vanilla.  I did manage to get more paint on the props than myself which is always a plus.  Painting fabric provides interesting results.  Velvet resists being painted despite my thoughts to the contrary and a seeming endless supply of really tacky paintings....Three or four more coats should do the trick.  Back to painting my dears.  Cheers!

Thankful



Greetings to all.  I have been working at a furious pace; creating, designing and participating in shows.   Have been very fortunate to encounter some wonderful people who have offered assistance and words of encouragement along the way.  Also managed to produce an insane amount of vintage tie dyed slips in the same time frame.  The lovely lady in the photo is my newest friend Kerry.  She is co-owner of KA-Bling jewelry.  Kerry is wearing one of my slips, I believe she has purchased four of them and counting.   She accessorized the slip in her own wonderful way.  As you can see, Kerry has a great sense of style and color.  If you look closely, she is wearing one of  her pendants.  Kerry was kind enough to sell some of my slips at a recent festival. Thanks Kerry!  And a big Thanks to those of you who have attended my shows.  I 've enjoyed meeting you and appreciate you more than you know.

Decorating for the holidays...



Here's my latest creation.  While I tend to make mostly jewelry, I occasionally see something that inspires me.  This Flexible Flyer called out to me while out junking.  Someone in my household had plans for it that included a very steep hill.  Mischievous adventure diverted; it is now a playful and nostalgic holiday decoration.  There's nothing to say that you couldn't remove the decorations once snow arrives and have a fine time.  But you didn't hear it from me.   Don't you just love the faux snow?

Have also found a pair of children's ice skates.  While I doubt they are vintage, they were worn and had the right amount of shabby goodness.   I'll try to photograph them before they go to a holiday show. 

When does everyone decorate for the Holidays?  In my neck of the woods, it's the day after Thanksgiving.  Decorations come down the day after Christmas.  Thank goodness for artificial trees! The neighborhood where I grew up decorated about two weeks before Christmas.  Demolition was January 2nd or 3rd, depending on the calendar.  A few years ago, I was putting my tree up on December 23rd.  Just had too many client requests for my other business;  window treatments.   I was frantically sewing, decorating, gift shopping and scrambling about.  Had a reality check as I was sewing till the wee hours in the morning.  It occurred to my sleep deprived and bleary brain that  life was too short  for such goings on.  Thankfully, I've learned to pace myself;  my workroom closes down in December.   Lesson learned about  priorities.  As a small business owner, these situations sometimes occur. We find ourselves working hellish hours and at odd times of the day and night.  The plus side is that we set our own hours, pajamas are acceptable attire and we have the best boss in the world.   As a parent and spouse, one needs to prioritize and to preserve family and traditions.   Putting them first is a no brainer and effortless.   It's a relief, as my family brings me endless happiness.

On a final note, we are planning on a live tree for Christmas.  Severe allergies have prevented us from doing so for several years.  We have a silk tree that is amazingly lifelike.  However, there is nothing that can duplicate the delicious scent of fresh pine in your home during the holidays.  After several years of painful allergy shots, we have been given the go ahead for a cut tree in our home.  Should the slightest symptom return, it will reside for the rest of the season on the screened porch.  Not looking forward to moving a fully decorated tree.  Keep your fingers crossed for us. 

In the meantime, here's wishing you a stress free holiday season.

A really big show!



Just wanted to say a big Thank you  and express my gratitude to everyone who came to my shows.  Despite wild, crazy weather we had so many visitors stop by.  You are truly appreciated.  There was wind, rain and mud.  Crazy conditions and still you chose to venture out to see us.  It was great to see familiar faces and to meet new friends.  My schedule has truly hectic as evidenced by my lack of posting.  Apologies all around.  Will try harder to stay current!  The good news is I'm working to create new and innovative items.  I've been making more vintage tie dyed slips, petite word charms and vintage shoe buckle bracelets, vintage domino art and holiday decor ; among other items.  The petite word charms were inspired by The Book of Virtues.  These charms started out with simple words like "gratitude" and "honesty".  My list of future charms has grown to over 300 words that are thoughtful, romantic or inspiring.  Worn alone or layered with other charms; the petite charms are perfect for any occasion. 

Keep posted for future developments.  And hang on to your hats, it's going to be a wild, vintage inspired, adventure filled ride!

For many of us, Labor day represents the end of summer, the beginning of school or maybe a sale at the mall.  It's so much more.  It celebrates the worker in all of us.  Thank you to all who make this world a little better.  A special Thank you to those who work despite scheduled calendar holidays; our Armed Forces, Police, Fire department,  Paramedics, Emergency room staff.  I know there are many more of you that I haven't mentioned.  Thank you for your contributions.  We'd all be headed for you-know-where-in-a-hand basket without you.  May you all have your well earned day of leisure, your moment in the sun.  I know I will appreciate this day all the more for it.  To all of you who keep things running so well that we don't even think about it...

Glamour, Beauty and love of vintage

Glamour: an exciting and often illusory and romantic attractiveness <the glamour of Hollywood>; especially : alluring or fascinating attraction .



Ah, the days of Hollywood glamour.  When Beauty was a deliberate thing.  Intentional.  Sitting at a dressing table with the purpose of preparing one's self for the day.  I find I have less time for these rituals. My routine has become streamlined; more often than not I'm applying lip gloss at stop lights.  And yet, I do admire the accoutrements of a dressing table; brushes, combs, cut glass perfume bottles, atomizers, the powder puff, etc.  Jewelry boxes casually stacked with strands of pearls, beautiful rings, of gifts that symbolized an important event.  Someday, I will find a space in my home for just such a setting.  But for now, while I wait at red lights, my mirror will have to suffice. 




Here's a mirror that I sold recently at a show.  It's a hand mirror, circa 1940's that came from an estate.  The mirror was in surprisingly good shape.  I removed the satin backing that had rumpled with age.  Not to worry, it will reappear somewhere else, as the brocade has an enchanting timeworn quality.  Perhaps a portion will appear in a vintage locket or another trinket.  But that's a topic for another post.  Photographic abilities aside, I really like the end result of this transformation.  This previously grimey, forgotten accessory was transformed into something completely different.  The addition of a butterfly was not an accident.  It represents the potential that exists in all of us.

The new back of the mirror is lined with music, the image of a woman in a portrait hat, a butterfly and vintage rhinestones.  The caption reads, "Beauty".  This mirror went home with someone who shares my affection for vintage items.  I know it found a good home.

Right.  Found this photo and my mind began to wander in the weird way that makes my family roll their eyes. Only wish I knewhow to do animation a la Terry Gilliam of Monty Python fame.   Can't you just imagine these lassies dancing to The Bay City Rollers?  Oh well, here's the next best thing... Enjoy the tunes and have a great weekend.




P.S. Funny Scotsman story.  This song came on the radio while I was waiting for my family to return from the grocery store.  I was smiling as I remembered the first time I heard this song.  Out of the corner of my eye, I saw someone walking from the store towards me.  It was a huge, red-headed Scotsman.   Not kidding, complete with Scottish pride t-shirt, tam-o-shanter and kilt.  My fingers itched to blast the volume on the radio dial.  You will be proud to note that I resisted the urge.  It was one of those serendipitous moments and no witnesses with whom to share it.  Priceless.

How to wear a vintage slip?

How does one wear a vintage slip, you might ask?

Here is a short and incomplete list to get you started:

1) The most obvious: wear it as a slip.  I have a friend who worked as a flight attendant.  She utterly despised her uniform.  She wore exquisite lingerie to boost her spirits.  It was her secret weapon.
2) Wear it as sleepwear.  It's glam and chic.  Why not?
3) Wear it as a dress.  No one else will be wearing anything like it.
4) Wear it layered under another slip, a dress, with a shirt, etc.
5) Belts are making a statement this season; find one compliments your shape.  Maybe something with a silvery vintage rhinestone buckle.
6) Cooler weather?  Wear your vintage slip with a cardigan over a pair of jeans.
7) Above all, wear it with fabulous Chic Peach vintage jewelry!

"Buffalo gals, won't you come out tonight?..."

"And dance by the light of the moon.."



Isn't this a fun necklace?  This custom pendant hangs from a strands of ribbon and cord.  The blue bead in the foreground is vintage.  I added some rhinestones for additional color and additional sparkle.  The pendant is custom with layers of images and text.  All in all, lots of fun.  This is just one of a series.  I liked the combination of the pendants with turquoise, coral and silvery beads.  These necklaces look great with my vintage slips.  Vintage slips, you ask?  Yes, I started making vintage slips with an uber-secret dye technique.  No need to know all the details, just enjoy the subtle, soft color gradations.   Have a look!



Sold of few of these at a recent show.  Currently, I have slips in shades of marmalade, deep purple and dark blue.  Am looking at other colors in the spectrum to add to my line, but it's difficult to choose just one.  All guaranteed to be one of a kind!  Convo me for details!  I'll post later on how to wear a vintage slip.

Most dangerous chocolate cake in the world *



Five Minute Chocolate Mug Cake

4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
Small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug (microwave safe)

Add dry ingredients to mug and mix well.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.
Add the chocolate chips, (if using) and vanilla extract.  Mix again.
Put mug in microwave and cook for 3 minute at 1000 watts.
The cake will rise over the top of the mug, don't be alarmed.  You might want to place mug on saucer in case of spills.
Allow to cool.  This cake can be served on a plate if desired.
EAT! (This could be shared by two, I suppose).

*And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world?
Because now we are all only five minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of day or night!

P.S.  This cake is dark, dense and delicious.  Very similar to a Molten Chocolate cake.  Endless variations could be make including the addition of cherries, whipped cream, chopped nuts, etc. etc. etc.

Journal



Here's a journal and a necklace featured at a previous show.  Journals have become so popular recently and are wonderful for chronicling the daily events in our lives.  This journal is light years away  from Jan Brady's diary.  I recently purchased an abundance of clip art and papers from a local artist.  What else to do except start making journals?  This journal took on a french fashion theme with rich tones of sepia, creme and aqua.  I added a bit of rhinestone for some vintage bling.    The back cover of the journal, and the title page were decorated, but not photographed.  Was happy to have set up in time before the show started.  Being able to take this photograph was icing on the cake!

The necklace above consists of assorted beads with World War II pilot wings and a 1950's cameo set in a verdigris frame.  This two strand necklace would look great with just about anything.  Cocoa brown is becoming a favorite color of mine.  It's a neutral, but is a vibrant option and less harsh than black.  It's the perfect backdrop for colors like aquas, blues and greens.

Othello



I recently had a show at a local performance of Othello.  The play was performed by the Shakespeare studio.  I've worked with them in the past and they're a great bunch of people.  Both of these necklaces were made with the Othello theme in mind.  The second piece is called Desdemona.  Both pieces will be available for silent auction at their Fall Fundraiser.  It's an easy way to support community theatre.   Details to follow as soon as I have the dates.  In the meantime, a big HOWDY to Margarita and Debra.  I look forward to working with you again!

Blogging?!




Isn't this great?  This was created from a vintage flip book. Found it at a blog called, "Just something I made" .  And she posts every day!  Am I a victim of blog envy?  No, I admire her posts and creativity.  Only hope to some day master the art of blogging. 

In the meantime, I've been working quite a bit in the studio.  Have been creating all types of items.  Yesterday, I made embellished bottles and peach scented bath salts to go in them.  The salts smelled so great that I saved a portion for myself.  Turned out great; it really smelled like fresh peaches.  So nice to relax after working for 11 hours.  My favorite bottle from the batch has a stopper made from a doll's head from the 1800's.  She's very sweet and I hope she finds a good home! 

Kind of feel bad for this woman who will vacuum for perpetuity; do you think she'd like to leave my blog page and clean my house instead?  If I'm guilty of envy, it would be clean house envy!

Being for the benefit of Mr. Williams...

Goodness!  Has it really been that long since my last post?  Apologies all around, summer is flying past.  Here's a post that is blog worthy!

Here's the story:  Once there was a man named Tim.  He had a tree trimming service.  He lived a contented life with his wife and children.  On June 15th of this year, his life took a dramatic turn.  A branch fell and hit a power line.  Authorities later said that  "that the amount of electricity that traveled through his right side, 13,000 volts was enough to kill him or at least break his bones in an instant. "  The good news is that Tim made it.  The bad news...Mind crushing medical bills and a family to feed.  These are good people who were dealt an unfortunate hand.  What can be done you might ask?  A fundraiser is being held to assist the William's family in their time of need.  My friend is organizing an event in the New Jersey area.  If you are so inclined to help, here's the contact information:

Tropical Punch and Happy Friday



Just finished this triple stranded necklace.  It's called "Tropical Punch".  Have been working on new items for my customer's shops. 
The centerpiece of this necklace is a tear drop stone from the 1920's.  I created a setting  for it and added semiprecious stones; amethyst, turquoise, freshwater pearls and more.  There's black chain and a delicate silvertone chain for contrast.  Funky and Chunky!

Slip this little number on for instant panache.  This statement necklace consists of  a vintage skeleton key, repurposed rhinestone heart brooch and Je t'aime charm with hearts.  The silvertone chain is 28 inches long. Perfect for layering with another necklace, bold enough to be worn on it's own. 

The shadow box in the background was made by my friend Ginny.  She put this shadowbox together from various estate purchases.  Great job, don't you think?

Father's Day




Penny Trick
After tucking their three-year-old child Sammy in for bed one night, his parents heard sobbing coming from his room.

Rushing back in, they found him crying hysterically. He managed to tell them that he had swallowed a penny and he was sure he was going to die. No amount of talking was helping.

His father, in an attempt to calm him down, palmed a penny from his pocket and pretended to pull it from Sammy's ear. Sammy was delighted.

In a flash, he snatched it from his father's hand, swallowed, and then cheerfully demanded, "Do it again, Dad!"

Was in a colorful mood today and created a necklace that is loaded with gemstones and beads.  The larger stones are a type of agate.  There are chunks of onyx, vintage glass beads and a turquoise pendant.  This necklace is a stand alone piece for most.  The more daring might want to add some antique Mexican silver, a concho belt or maybe a huge turquoise ring.  Your choice.   Cowboy boots are optional.



This is a gorgeous necklace with a southwestern feel.  Embrace your inner cowgirl!

While summer is not officially here, summertime weather is in full swing in my town.  Thus begins the annual love affair with fresh fruits and veggies sold at local farmer's markets.  I was lucky enough to purchase a huge, homegrown bundle of basil, tomatoes, and fresh mozzarella.  After all ingredients were sliced and assembled, a generous amount of olive oil, sea salt, oregano and pepper were added.  Serendipitous timing at the grocer...freshly baked baguettes!  Overall, very delicious and the first of many quick meals with locally grown gifts from the earth.  Really, is there anything better than a freshly sliced tomato, still warm from the sun?

These vintage earrings  have been revamped  and given a new lease on life.  The silver-ox ear wires add an additional touch of drama.  They dangle enchantingly at a flattering length.   As you can see, the earrings are richly detailed down to the dancer's face and headdress.  Additional beads and Swarovski crystals have been added for extra richness.

I feel like a hundred bucks...


Strep throat has arrived at our home.  Yippee!  So many other gifts that would have been enthusiastically received; chocolates, orchids, a stone massage,  a house cleaned top to bottom to within an inch of it's life...Instead? Fevers, cough syrup, requests for Popsicles and ice water.  Studio hours to resume Monday.  Stay well.

tcp1709 - Black Hearted Bess - earrings



Here's the newest addition to my shop.   The mesh portion is from a repurposed purse.  The silver mesh reflects whatever color you're wearing.  I was wearing a teal shirt while photographing these earrings.  The Swarovski crystals are another matter.  They  are called Volcano.  More like voluptuous.  The facets on these crystals have a depth of color; greens, blues, purples, graphite gray and more. 

These earrings are named for the infamous pirate that terrorized the seas. You just didn't mess with Black Hearted Bess.  Made for the determined and decisive, these earrings rock!  Just for fun, here's a quiz to test your pirate savvy.

Tcp1255 - Domestic Diva - statement necklace


New posting!  Here's a statement necklace that's one of a kind.  A wry commentary on the Domestic Arts.  The focal point is a repurposed doll house iron.  It's approximately one inch high.  The iron is accompanied by a vintage rhinestone button.  I've added a crown charm to continue the theme.  The charms hang from a silvertone figaro chain.  A lobster clasp completes this piece with a Swarovski crystal dangle.   This necklace is a conversation starter for certain.

Happy birthday Mary Cassatt



Here's one of her more famous works.  I never tire of looking at it and had the privilege of seeing this painting in person.  Mme. Cassatt had a way with color, design and composition.  She had an enviable ease with color.  She also held her own with the "big boys" of Impressionism; most notedly,  Degas. 

She was once quoted as saying,  “Women should be someone and not something”.  Brilliant.  Truly one of my favorite artists.

Potential



"The saddest thing in life is wasted talent, and the choices that you make will shape your life forever."  From the movie, "A Bronx tale".  I like to think of talent as a flower.  It requires the right environment for optimal growth.  With the right elements , you have the basis for something that's pretty incredible.  This flower is from a bulb I purchased years ago from a nursery.  Initially, it was rather unappealing and gave no hint as to it's potential.  With a skeptical mind, I planted it, watered and fed it. 

This is the sight that greeted me the next spring:


This gorgeous flower is a German Iris.  It 's scented.  What a surprise as I'd never heard of a scented iris.  I guess the flower is my metaphor for potential/talent.  With the right conditions, it can transform into something spectacular. 
What's the point of my ramblings?  Grow, nurture, encourage and create.  You never know what the right environment might produce.

Soldered charms

  I was experimenting  this weekend with clip art, bits of  vintage lace, buttons, rhinestones and other vintage goodies.  Here are the results...

 

   These pendants are like little vignettes under glass.  Some of the pendants need still need chains. Trying to decide whether to go plain or for vintage flair!  Maybe  a mixture of both?  I really like the pendant with the vintage sheet music, vintage watch face and bird that hangs from vintage chain with faux pearls.  The pendant itself is reversible.  This is probably my newest favorite.  Shhhh!  Don't tell the others!

Indulgences


Pan dulces

  While on my way to an art show, the air was filled was delicious scents. There was a clean scent from a recent rain shower, the smell of fresh mown grass and blooming flowers.  There was the smell of freshly turned earth, a personal favorite. But there was something more.   I smelled something delicious, something from my childhood that I couldn't quite place.  I followed my nose and walked up to an old fashioned "tienda".  It's a store that that features Hispanic products that included a panaderia.  What is a panaderia you might ask?  It's a Hispanic bakery.  You walk in and the shop has this wonderful fresh comforting scent of yeast, sugar, vanilla and more.  Combined, it is the sweet smell of ultra comfort food.  I grew up among the Mexican culture; it is as much a part of  me as the color of my eyes.  I thought panaderias were something I left behind when I moved to a new city.  Quite happy to report I was wrong.

  As you enter the store, the pastries are displayed in tall racks waiting for selection.  The croissants are fresh and flaky, rivaling any croissant I've sampled at a more upscale cafe.    Through my rusty Spanish, I located tongs and a stack of old fashioned cafeteria trays.  The idea is to select whatever strikes your fancy.  One of these, one of those, two of those...Just to get an idea of perspective, the cookies and rolls are the size of a saucer.  Your selections are counted and placed carefully into a brown paper sack to take home.  My car never smelled so good!  Forget new car smell, this beats the pants off that scent anyday!  Is there such a thing as a bakery car freshener?

  I've reduced my intake of carbs and white sugar with the hopes of improving my health.  However, this occasional Saturday morning indulgence won't hurt anyone.  Savored slowly on my porch with a cup of steamed milk and coffee, listening to the birds sing and feeling the breeze on my skin.  These are the quiet moments that replenish the spirit, recharge the batteries and make daily tasks more palatable  Hopefully these pan dulces and quiet moments will trigger happy and comforting memories for my family someday.

Little girls, dancing around the Maypole, dressed in white in a daisy field. Can't you imagine yourself there?   The hazy sun, birds chirping and the feel of cool earth between my toes.  Happy May Day!  This holiday marks the beginning of Summer in Europe.

Traditions of  May Day  include the Maypole and  May basket.  The Maypole is a tall pole adorned with ribbons and flowers.  A lucky girl is chosen to be Queen of the May.  The May basket or "Bringing in the May", is the gathering of branches and flowers.  They are placed in baskets along with sweets and surprises.  The baskets were placed on doorsteps or tied to doorknobs.  Doorbells were rung and children dashed away, leaving behind a herald of sun drenched days and nature's beauty.

Disturbing baby gifts at Trendhunter.com

This has nothing to do with vintage style jewelry.  It asks the question, "What were they thinking?".    Trendhunter.com has a website of trends  with various categories.  I happened to see this little marvel of technology in the bizarre baby gift category; a doll with copious amounts of orange hair that requires shaving.  As a proposed gift for newborns, who exactly is supposed to shave the doll?  The newborn? The proud parents?  I haven't included photos of the doll as it would seriously conflict with the ambiance of my website.  Instead, here's a vintage photo of a sweet baby.

tcp1658- "Tenacity" - necklace

Found this medal and was pleased to see it was made of sterling.  Most of the medals I've encountered are pewter.  The front of the medal reads:
"NY Evening Newsboys 1912 Athletic Meet". 

It was awarded for the Tug of War event.  I wonder about the recipient of this medal.  This young man rose each morning and walked his route, despite weather conditions.  Skipping the route because he was tired, or not feeling well wasn't an option.  Isn't it fitting that someone with that type of determination would win in Tug of War?  Tenacity, Determination, Resolve.  Qualities that surely served him well throughout his life...

Ready for your close up?  This is pure, unadulterated, in your face glamour.   I found this while out junking.  I'd looked at all the merchandise and was ready to walk away.  Something caught my eye.  Underneath some boxes and old clothing, a baguette shyly shone in the sun.  I tried to be nonchalant, but my gasp was just a little too loud.  This is a showstopper.

Springtime Serenade

I was inspired recently by the sights and sounds of impending spring.  From the dogwoods, to the tender green ferns emerging from their winter slumber to the cherry trees.  I was looking out my window recently and saw what appeared to be snow.  It was blossoms falling from the cherry trees.   It was so beautiful as the delicate pink petals drifted gently across the sky.



I recently found some beautiful pink and white beads.  They reminded me of the cherry blossoms with their delicate shades of pink and white...



I paired the beads with vintage velvet ribbon, rosette style chain, fresh water pearls and a bird charm.  Together, they form a triple strand homage to spring.


Wanted to share a photo of my latest find.  This brooch came all the way from an estate in jolly England:



This 1940's brooch is exquisite.  The detail and workmanship is incredible from the rose in Juliet's hand, the pillars of the balcony to the kissing lovebirds.  The brooch depicts the balcony scene from Romeo and Juliet.  It's even prettier in person.  Someone took pride and care with the creation of this piece.  It is made of carved celluloid with a framework of pearls.  I'm going to transform this into a necklace.  Keep an eye out for this one of a kind creation.

Southwestern flavor

Sometimes jeans and a t-shirt just aren't enough.  This bracelet is chunky, rustic and full of southwestern flavor.  The focal point of this bracelet is a huge chunk of red coral and a hand milagro.  A milagro is a lovely symbol of devotion.  A hand milagro can represent a wish for a job, reaching out to others or a symbol of humanity.



This bracelet consists of red coral, turquoise, hand milagro, silver bali beads, chunky faux metal beads, pewter bead and toggle closure.

Happy Birthday Barbie!


Happy Birthday Barbie!  While I wasn't a huge fan of Barbie growing up, her appeal never ceases to amaze me.  As a child, playing with Barbies was a way to meet new friends.   I think the clothes were so appealing.  Some of my friends had custom made outfits for their Barbies.  Years ago, our neighbors were newlyweds.  The husband couldn't afford much of a Christmas gift so he bought her a Barbie outfit with the promise that one day he would buy her something pretty as soon as he could.  Ain't love grand?  I still thinks it's a sweet and romantic gesture. 

  At the ripe age of 50, Barbie has had many careers.  That's what I prefer to focus on; not the unrealistic body image.   If today's Barbie were a real person, she would have to crawl as her upper body would be too much for her lower body to support.  Her neck would be unable to support her head and she would wear a size 3 shoe...Love her or hate her, I'm impressed with her longevity and appeal.

Happy Birthday George and free earring give-away!

  Today is the birthday of George Harrison.  It would have been his 66th birthday.  George is my favorite Beatle; so many of my favorite Beatle songs were written by him.  At the time of the band's breakup, he had written a prodigious number of songs.  Some of this work surfaced on the album  "All things must pass".  I will always cherish his music and his gentle nature.  It was interesting to learn that he was an avid gardener.

Here's my latest and greatest profile on Etsy.  In case you haven't shopped there, give it a try.  Lots of hand crafted items.  You can purchase soaps, candles, clothing, art, etc. 

She prepared for her job at the Music Box Theater. It wasn’t her day job, but the theater kept drawing her back. It wasn’t for the additional paycheck. Was it the stately architecture? Was it her love of glamour or nostalgia for days gone by? One thing was certain: the theater was elegantly shabby in the most glorious manner possible. She experienced a thrill each time she entered the theater; the hushed atmosphere, the smell of fresh popcorn, the murmur of the crowd, the sound of live organ music and the anticipation of a memorable evening. This was a movie palace with soaring ceilings, a dazzling marquis and plush velvet curtains. It featured movies that recalled the glamour of days gone by.

Her job was to sell tickets or to guide people to their seats. She looked for her favorite patrons; an elderly couple. They held hands tenderly while walking to their favorite seats. The man wore a suit and tie with a fedora. It was his custom to remove his hat before the movie began. His wife wore her customary mink stole, a tailored dress with silk stockings, and spectator pumps. She wore an exotic fragrance that mingled with the peppermints she kept in her pocketbook. The crowning touch was always a beautiful piece of jewelry from a seemingly inexhaustible collection. It commemorated the joyful and important occasions in their life together; pearls, cameos, brooches and rhinestones that shone as brightly as the Music box marquis.

What was it about the retro movies? Was it the clothes, the shoes, the…Jewelry???


My mission:

Justkim was merely looking for something to do when she wasn’t creating sumptuous window treatments in her workroom. Her love of gardening has been put on hold due to a severe four year drought. The voracious hosta munching deer had also been a determining factor. A benign obsession began which resulted in a line of jewelry that is sold online, at boutiques and trunk shows across the land.

Shhh! It's a secret



Due to the nature of my work and the type of jewelry I design, I'm constantly searching for trinkets and treasures.  Many have asked about where I obtain these treasures.  Sorry,  I can't reveal my sources.  They come about as a result of frequenting shops, establishing relationships, rolling up my sleeves and digging  through boxes , etc..  It takes time and patience.  So forgive me if my answers are vague.  I've told no one, with the exception of my cat.  She isn't talking...

Flea market treasures



Just a few trinkets that I picked up the other day including the silver tray.  My favorites are the rhinestone heart with wee rhinestone keys.  I adore the vintage locket engraved with the name "Ruth".  Reminds me of the character "Miss Ruth" from the movie "Fried Green Tomatoes".  Hmmm...I sense a theme.  Keep posted.

Valentine's Meal

Valentine's Day is a day when we scrupulously avoid restaurants.  Mother's Day  is another such occasion.  Few restaurants in our area accept reservations so we have a leisurely meal at home.  Besides, an hour long wait for substandard food leaves me peckish.  Peckish is a nice word instead of the "B" word that rhymes with witch.  As a result, I cook for Valentine's day.  It's my gift to my husband and family.  So after a whirlwind day of flea marketing, plus a movie, I rushed home to begin cooking.  Here's the menu, drum roll please.............

-Artichoke pesto crostini
-Marinated and grilled steaks
-Garlic mashed yukon gold potatoes
-Fresh sauteed spinach and garlic...yes, we love garlic!
-Sauteed mushroom medley
-Cucumber, tomato, feta cheese salad with vinaigrette
-Fresh baked chocolate chip cookies for Hubby
-Chocolate dipped strawberries.

The meal was prepared and served in one hour.  Insane, yes, but note my definition of peckish in the last paragraph.  The only pre-prepared items were the cookies, artichoke pesto and ciabatta.   Yes, there were dishes and rushing about.  I also questioned and grumbled a bit about the wisdom, necessity and origin of  this "tradition".  In the end, however,  the dinner came together smashingly and was consumed with gusto and appreciation.  I was pleased to hear Hubby say that we were all spoiled by such a meal.  All I can say is Thank Heavens for dishwashers and pressure cookers.  I have fallen in love with my pressure cooker and use it frequently.  I'll reserve that topic for another day.

New venture

Just finished setting up a new display at a nearby  shop .   Juls and I met years ago when our daughters were in elementary school.  She purchased a  candle company and worked out of her home. Her business grew and developed a nearly fanatical following.  The demand was so great, that she moved into a nearby farmhouse and converted it into a shop.  These aren't your ordinary candles, they are deeply scented and long lasting.   When you drive up to the shop, there is a sense of fun and whimsy.   As you enter, the delicious scents of the candles will greet you as will Juls and her staff; Shelly, Jodie and Kimberly.   The merchandise is creatively displayed in a playful and eclectic style.   Juls has a gift for merchandising that has to be seen to be believed.  She also sells items for the home and... jewelry.  Here are some photos of her shop.  Stop by if you're close, you'll fall in love with the sights and scents.   Juls also does custom orders, turning unique items into candles.  My latest favorite scent is "Butterfly".   Juls is turning my recent find of old silverplate punch cups into candles for me.  I think the Butterfly scent will compliment the vintage feel of the cups.   Can't wait to see how they turn out.  Perhaps they will find their way onto my site...

More displays.  I filled a dressmaker form with moss which provides a backdrop for my vintage style jewelry.    The necklace is a personal favorite, it has a 1920's watch, an old rhinestone necklace, assorted chain and handdyed velvet ribbon.  The watch is guaranteed to be accurate twice a day.  The faux topiary adds some height and drama to the display.  Perfect for displaying earrings and other trinkets.

Tray o' Valentine's goodies

A local boutique, Elements of Three, is featuring some of my work.    Elements of Three sells "upscale women's clothing, jewelry and accessories".  Feel free to take a peek.  If you see something you like, you'll have to stop by the shop...



My favorite items?  The heart shaped locket with vintage rhinestones and the second pair of earrings.  The chair charms are very small with heart shaped backs.  Very sweet.

Gone to glory - R.I.P. Billy Powell



Another great has gone to glory.  Billy Powell, keyboardist, has passed away.  A member of Lynyrd Skynyrd, he survived the tragic plane crash in 1977.  He will be missed, his fluid style won't be duplicated easily.  Rest easy, Billy.

Farm fresh

A local vet sells eggs.  If you've never had fresh eggs, you don't know what you're missing.  Kind of like fresh pasta, there's just no comparison.  The idea is to call the vet's office everyday to see if there are fresh eggs available.  Yes, one could go to the store, but that's just too easy and not as delicious.  Besides, when you are obsessed, nothing is too inconvenient.  In addition, cold weather makes egg production slow down.  Dramatically.  Shall I say it?  Makin the eggs as scarce as hen's teeth.  Finally was successful and scored a flat of eggs for the princely sum of $3.00.  Score!



These eggs were the inspiration for my latest piece: "Mother Hen".  It's a rustic necklace with vintage chain, smoky quartz beads and a custom soldered charm with a hen and chick theme.  There is a nest and egg charm for additional interest.

Black cats and daffodils in December

While taking outdoor photos of my latest creations, I had some assistance.  My cat joined me as I shot photos of jewelry and daffodils.



While we were outside, it occurred to me that she joined our family over a year ago.  She was thrown from a moving car as a kitten near our home.  Despite such cruel treatment, she remains loving and affectionate.  We adopted her, had her spayed and vaccinated.  Her  coat has become sleek as a seal and she has filled out.  She is a prodigious hunter and regularly brings us "gifts" as a token of her appreciation.   We are lucky to have her.



  Honestly, I don't know what to make of our weather lately.  Of course, it's nothing in comparison to the weather in the north with chilly temperatures and record snow fall.  Our winter has brought mild temperatures, much needed rain and daffodils in December.   By the end of this week, we will have below normal temperatures.  My kids are hoping for a snow day, but it doesn't seem to be in the cards.  Snow days means freedom from school, hot cocoa, sledding, lots of wet clothes, rosy red cheeks, the aroma of simmering spaghetti sauce, a roaring fire and a movie marathon.  Come to think of it, snow doesn't sound so bad. 

  My daffodils bloomed about six to eight weeks ahead of schedule.  Luckily they are hardy and show withstand future frosts or snow.  Love to see these cheery flowers, they remind me of the scene from the movie, "Doctor Zhivago".   Simply thousands of daffodils swaying gently in the breeze.  My daffodils are self-propagating and will perhaps one day will fill the yard with beautiful blooms.

Thanks!

  Had another show today at a neighborhood school.  My children attended the school and so it was great to see their teachers again.  I'm always impressed with the teaching profession.  These educators spend the day with different abilities, personalities, etc. and are still smiling at the end of the day.  Amazing people!  Thanks to all who attended and a special thanks to Kathy.  Thanks for inviting me back.  I so appreciate your support.

  Funny story.  I had made a necklace from a vintage brooch.  Here's a photo:

As you can see, it's a flying pig.  This little piggie says Oui!  The woman who bought this purchased it as a gift for her daughter.  The daughter and son-in-law  raise pigs and reside in France.  Coincidence?  I don't think so...

Showtime!

  Had a wonderful time at the holiday show.  Caught up with old friends and made some new ones.  Tammy and Sherri, Thanks for all your feedback and kind words.  These ladies make quilts and other accessories from vintage chenille bedspreads.  The colors are lively and the designs thoughtful.  Just as soon as they have their website up and running, I will post the link.

  Also wanted to give a shout out to Rose, she has some wonderful T-shirts, all of her own design with hearts, crowns and rhinestones.  We're kindred spirits and found we have so much in common.  All in all, the show was a success.  Thanks to all who stopped by.  I'm posting some pictures of my booth, not the best quality; the lighting was a challenge and my camera was set on macro.  I've been photographing jewelry like mad and hadn't reset the camera.  Snap!

"Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends..."

I've been busy preparing for the St. Marlo Holiday show.  Here's a new piece that I'm excited about:














  I found some old silverplate cutlery at an antique shop.  With my trusty blowtorch, I've formed it into a bracelet.  It's not your ordinary cuff bracelet; it has a double link chain for a more forgiving fit.  It is also adjustable to fit up to an 8 inch wrist.  Vintage rhinestones have been added to add a bit of sparkle.    If you look closely at the last picture, you'll see the marking on the fork.  It's a palm tree!

Lately, I'm finding myself drawn to a richer color palate.  Change in the weather?  Maybe.  This cloisonne pendant is the inspiration and foundation for this necklace.  Drawing from it's colors, I selected various beads to complement and complete this vibrant necklace.  Colors of rust, gold, bronze, black and green are found in the beaded portion.  Next, two types of chain encircle the beaded chain.  I've included a close up so you can see a sampling of various colors.  Materials in this necklace are: vintage brass, mother of pearl shell beads, fresh water pearls, assorted glass beads and copper beads and more.  There's quite a variety of shapes, sizes and textures;  all combined to make a one of a kind treasure.   This necklace is chockablock full of color and texture.

Here's a view of the clasp and the lock charm.  As you can see, the necklace is adjustable for customizing the length.


This necklace is adjustable up to 20" long.  Pendant length is 1.5".   A lobster clasp and lock charm complete this piece.

Volunteer opportunity and custom work

My daughter is involved in technical theater.  It is her passion.  She is working with a new theater company called the Shakespeare Studio.   They were asking for volunteers and donations.  I offered to design jewelry that could be worn during the production and later auctioned as a fundraiser.  It's a great way to give back to the community and to  stretch my wings creatively.  Custom work is a fun challenge; matching colors, textures and shape to create a piece that is as unique as it's owner.   I really look forward to my partnership with this group.   Definitely a win-win situation!


For her:

This necklace is made from an oxidized silver filigree cross topped with a vintage rhinestone pin.  There's fresh water pearls and Swarovski crystals to add a bit of color.


For him:

Everything is vintage except for the chain and clasp.  This piece will be worn by an audience participant who will play the king in the production.

tcp 1276 - "V is for..." cuff bracelet - SOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"V" is for Victory, Valor, Victoria, Vixen?  You decide.  The centerpiece of this bracelet is a World War II winged victory finding that was originally a pin.  I have since fashioned it into a bracelet.  All elements, save for the filigree under the "V" are vintage.  The corrugated cuff is dramatic and adds visual interest.

Nature

Took a look outside today.  It's the first day of autumn and there is  change in the air.  The scent of  smoke and spice fill the air and the ground is cool beneath my feet.  This is my favorite time of year with lazy golden afternoons and cool, crisp nights. 

I found two visitors in my garden today.  One is flagrant and the other is less conspicuous.  I'm not a bug person, but have to admire their unique characteristics and place in nature.  That's as long as the place is outside my home. :)



Big spider, not sure of it's name.  I do like the lacing effect at the bottom of the web.




Nope, not a twig.  It's a walking stick insect.  As of this afternoon, it's traveled a whopping distance of 10 inches.  Wow!

Here is a gathering of charms dangling from a re purposed pin; a dark silver heart with a pink rhinestone ribbon.  There's a vintage skeleton key, Vintage Cracker Jack Charm and a lock charm.  The vintage Cracker Jack charm is a genie's lamp.  The other charm is says, "Love".  All of this dangles from a dark silver toned, etched chain.  A pink Swarovski crystal bead accompanies a lobster clasp.

The inspiration for this piece came from a favorite song.  The guitarist was moderately successful in the 60's and 70's.   Not!  Seriously, he was probably one of the most prolific guitarists of all time.
 
This necklace is dripping with romance and charms:
Butterfly filigree, butterfly charms, zebra charms, angel wing charm, moonstone beads, assorted rhinestones and a fushia Swarovski crystal.  This necklace has a hook closure in the front.   As with all brass jewelry, the finish will mellow and acquire a patina over time.  To maintain my brass jewelry, I polish it with a product called Maas.  It's inexpensive and available in most stores.  Use it to protect your one of a kind creation.

Salty and sassy; this necklace is aptly named.  The centerpiece is an unmatched earring from a cache of stripper jewelry, circa 1940-50's.   The star of the show is of course a vintage rhinestone earring.  The rest of the necklace consists of two types of chain, red Swarovski rhinestones and rhinestone rondelles.   A spring clasp with a black Swarovski dangle completes this necklace.

Lucinda was tired of the prairie.  She longed for the bright lights of the city and the great world that was hers to explore.   One day she left; leaving behind a treasured hair comb, a bus token and a sink full of chestnut curls.  Years later, she would return.  She missed the sounds of home.

The centerpiece of this necklace is a vintage hair comb.  It's accompanied by an authentic vintage Houston transportation token, assorted glass pearls, vintage brass chain and Swarovski crystals.  A lobster clasp completes this necklace.

The name says it all.  Brass drops,  lacy filigree bows, glass jewels in a filigree wrap.  The  only new products are the filigree wrap that holds the ruby red glass jewel and the leverback earring findings.   Raw brass does not contain nickel that can irritate sensitive ears.  To keep it's lovely sheen, use Maas or a similar type metal polish on your brass jewelry.

So.  This bracelet reminds me of a co-worker named Estelle.  She had jet black hair and wore 4" heels everyday.   Mah Jongg and shoes were her passion.  She dished out advice liberally and called everyone doll.  This one's for you Stellie!  This bracelet consists of petite Mah Jongg tiles, Rubylite stones and jet bicone beads.  A toggle clasp completes the bracelet.  This bracelet will fit the average 7" wrist.
