Farm fresh

A local vet sells eggs.  If you've never had fresh eggs, you don't know what you're missing.  Kind of like fresh pasta, there's just no comparison.  The idea is to call the vet's office everyday to see if there are fresh eggs available.  Yes, one could go to the store, but that's just too easy and not as delicious.  Besides, when you are obsessed, nothing is too inconvenient.  In addition, cold weather makes egg production slow down.  Dramatically.  Shall I say it?  Makin the eggs as scarce as hen's teeth.  Finally was successful and scored a flat of eggs for the princely sum of $3.00.  Score!

These eggs were the inspiration for my latest piece: "Mother Hen".  It's a rustic necklace with vintage chain, smoky quartz beads and a custom soldered charm with a hen and chick theme.  There is a nest and egg charm for additional interest.
