Happy Birthday Barbie!

Happy Birthday Barbie!  While I wasn't a huge fan of Barbie growing up, her appeal never ceases to amaze me.  As a child, playing with Barbies was a way to meet new friends.   I think the clothes were so appealing.  Some of my friends had custom made outfits for their Barbies.  Years ago, our neighbors were newlyweds.  The husband couldn't afford much of a Christmas gift so he bought her a Barbie outfit with the promise that one day he would buy her something pretty as soon as he could.  Ain't love grand?  I still thinks it's a sweet and romantic gesture.

At the ripe age of 50, Barbie has had many careers.  That's what I prefer to focus on; not the unrealistic body image.   If today's Barbie were a real person, she would have to crawl as her upper body would be too much for her lower body to support.  Her neck would be unable to support her head and she would wear a size 3 shoe...Love her or hate her, I'm impressed with her longevity and appeal.

Try the Barbie trivia test... Personally, I didn't do very well.  For those of you enamored with pink, rhinestones, vintage style and romance; here's some eye candy:

My Barbie knowledge is woefully inadequate.  Perhaps you will fare better.
