Just about this time for the past few years, my local farm stand begins to sell fresh local produce.  Sometimes it's still warm from being picked earlier in the day.  Hard to say which is my favorite, but I'm quite fond of fresh tomato sandwiches or tomato and cucumber salad.  These tomatoes are heavy,dense and juicy.  Learned years ago from a grocer that the worst thing you can do is to refrigerate tomatoes.  It makes them grainy and destroys their flavor. 

So begins the season of salads, fresh fruit and grilling.  Am looking forward to the lazy days of summer spent with family and friends.  What will summer bring for you?

I actually have a day off this week.  It will be spent in the garden; mulching, weeding and planting new flowers and herbs.  Bliss!
